Crunchfest 2002
You can hear this performance in its entirety on Goose: Untitled 3" (Zaft 033). I still have fond memories of the Crunchfests I attended, which essentially consisted of evening jam sessions and barbecue at Ben Arp's place in the middle of nowhere California. This was before Crunch Pod Media became the juggernaut that it is today when times were simpler. But Ben is a great guy and I am happy to see him doing so well. I think that the others that performed included Conure, Big Tex, Sleeping With the Earth, and C/A/T or at least one of Ben's side projects. There were probably others, but it's been a while and I didn't take very good notes.
This performance took place in a boat in the shed in which we all performed. I used the rope in the boat to hold down on of the keys of the Wavestation to lay down some drone. The other sound sources were all created in real time and consisted of metal BBs in a metal bowl that were swirled around, rock salt, and stemware glasses filled to various levels that were then resonated. It was more stripped down than most of my Goose material, but very pleasant. After all, I prefer to see the musician do something.
